We.are not so sure whats all the hypes about, but this small, juicy and oily fried meatloaf its nothing really different or special. Its.also a bit too sweet for us.

They need to change the oil, too greasy

Fun spot to explore, shop, and snack!

A little shop tucked on a back walk near the shrine - always a line but the menchi is worth the wait. Tourists will be reminded that eating and walking is prohibited (I'm not certain if this is a local ordinance or something involved with this one store directly) but they have a small dining area next to it that had a few folding type chairs but is mostly standing room only. There may be more seating at the back of the dining area, I honestly couldn't tell for the crowds that day.

Hot, crispy and tasty! Only downside is that it's a bit too oily

Highly rated by many, I think if you get something freshly cooked. I got a batch that was ok but luke warm. Nice was the fact that they had an eating area not far from the shop, and a nice owner. Will try again next time I am in the area.

Pretty good meat-based croquettes, very tender and juicy meat. Because business is good, they're constantly frying up the croquettes, so each one you get are piping hot and fresh.Only problem is they don't have English menu. I try making out some of the Kanji and thought they had different kinds of croquettes, however because I didn't want to hog up the queue behind me, I just went with the basic ¥200 one, that turned out to pork based. Still very good croquette, though!

This place is incredibly overrated. The meatballs are expensive and relatively mediocre.

very delicous menchi katsu. often there is a line but it's worth the wait

Menchi-katsu. Beef and onion croquette. Juicy, crispy, meaty goodness.

Very delicious. No need for sauce because the good flavor of meat alone will be enough. But you can add some “Japanese mustard†to enhance the taste, it will brings out even more harmonious tastiness.

Whilst visiting Senso-Ji temple, we stumbled upon this place and noticed the queue. We thought we were missing out on something so joined the queue to see what all the fuss is about. It is a minced meat (pork), onion and gravy patty. It was perfectly nice but certainly not worth the queues.

A fried meat pastry what is there not to love quick delicious bite and they sell out quick but they are fast to make more so they are always piping hot
Lim Zhan Hong
Seasoned to perfection and much juicy.

Ordered the Menchi Katsu(250yen). Meat patty was juicy and crispy. Has onion mixed inside which gives a nice texture and moisture. Not too salty so it is nice to eat on its own.

Amazingly juicy croquette. More of a hit it and quit it food stand. Perfect for a quick bite in the middle of site seeing.
Gil Yaish
Yes! Juicy and crunchy with tons of flavor. The onions bits makes it slightly sweet and it goes well with the crust.

Tried this because I thought it must be good because of the long queue. Queue moves fairly quickly. The meat and onion deep fried patty was quite juicy, although very oily and a bit bland. Not sure what the fuss was about.

Delicious Japanese deep-fried ground meat patties (pork)... very crispy and juicy!

Honestly I didn't expect it to be this good. It was incredibly tender and juicy inside and crispy outside.

The best menchi I’ve ever had. It was very crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Love it!

Very nomal... The wait wasn't too long. Will not buy second time.

Absolutely must try when in Asakusa! You won't regret it.

Must go. Very delicious. It would be better if English menu is available.
Vincent Lim
Loved how juicy and sweet their menchi katsu was, definitely a local favorite too

One of the best Gyu Menchi's you will find

Located near Sensoji Temple, for 300 yen you can get a hot, crispy menchi katsu filled with juicy beef and lots of onions (which was surprisingly good for someone who normally doesn’t enjoy onions?). There’s a standing area next to the stand and some seats to enjoy your katsu.

Delicious! Crispy outside and juicy inside :)

Delicious local snack. Fresh, hot and JUICY!! Make sure you don't spill the juices on yourself and not to burn your mouth. There is usually a queue but moves fairly quick.

Couldn't really tell what I was ordering but there was a line. Deep fried goodness is what I'll be calling it. Very tasty and quick service. If you DO NOT like onions, beware.

Famous food place to grab. It has a distinguished flavour between the beef and the croquette. However, it is not too special compared to normal croquette in convenience stores.
Andrew Fleury
They've started to make the メンãƒã‚«ãƒ„ smaller :( still juicy and tasty though.

I'm also a victim of the psychological marketing. I bought the "Schnitzel" because I saw many Japaneses eating this in front of the store (eating while walking is impolite in Japan, don't make this mistake like I did.). It costs 500 yens and tastes alright but not that I have to stand in the line waiting for 10 mins.By the way the best Schnitzel I've ever tried is in Iran.

Fried mince beef croquette! Juicy, succulent, sweet & savoury at the same time. As all Asian would say, can I have a bowl of rice to go with please 👌ðŸ»
Daniel
Menchikatsu is delicious!
Samson Kein
This is pretty great. Not as good as the famous shop in Harajuku but definitely a worthy competitor
Fred Varner
Delicious. Have one without any toppings to really appreciate the flavors, have your next one with mustard for a little kick. I wouldn't wait in a long line for just one, but they are good.

Good Menchi Katsu, slightly on the pricey side for the size but what you pay are the quality. I believe they use Wagyu beef.
Duncan Chao
Delicious beef croquet.
Eduardo Pitti
Delicious AF. Don't walk and eat. They don't allow it because nonesense. Standing in front of the store, to the left there is a small eating area.

Great little find, perfect for a little afternoon treat. Lovely ground meaty centre with strong onion flavours, deep fried. Perfect little bit of street food.
